With the UCI Cycling World Championships well and truly underway in Glasgow, Rocket Sports, Sir Elton John’s sports marketing agency, proudly announces its latest athlete signing. The already highly successful British cyclist, Anna Shackley, joins its ranks. Further solidifying its commitment to nurturing and promoting exceptional sporting talent.
Currently representing Scotland at the UCI Cycling World Championships in her home town of Glasgow, Anna Shackley is a name to watch in the women’s road cycling tour as the youngest member of the top women’s tour team SD Worx.
Anna postponed a chemistry degree at Glasgow University to sign a professional contract with the Dutch team in 2020. But due to the Covid 19 pandemic, her professional career got off to a slow start, first racing in September of that year finishing 25th at her debut UCI Road World Championships, held in Imola, Italy. Earlier in 2020, Anna exhibited her versatility by claiming two national titles at the British National Track Championships riding for Team Breeze with fellow Rocket Sports athlete Josie Knight.
She has since gone from strength to strength proving her signing a good one, with a 25th place overall finish in the prestigious Vuelta a Burgos Feminas stage race in Spain, the highlight of her early season in May 2021.
Anna has most notably since raced at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, the 2022 Commonwealth Games, 2023 Strade Bianche Donne, and Giro d’Italia Donne before heading to her home town for the World Championships where we’re cheering her, and Josie Knight, on!
While the sports Rocket Sports athletes compete in has expanded to cover many more disciplines than its original area of expertise, cycling, the world of cycling and its athletes remains at the core of its success and business purpose.
