Give Me the Ball! Set for Sundance Premiere

A new documentary, Give Me the Ball!, captures Billie Jean King’s fight for equality and lasting impact on sport and society as it premieres at the Sundance Film Festival January 2026.

Give Me the Ball!, is a powerful and intimate documentary recounting the life and legacy of tennis trailblazer Billie Jean King, has been selected to premiere at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival. Sundance rarely selects films that already have distribution, making the inclusion a powerful endorsement of the film’s quality, storytelling and cultural importance. The film will screen on Monday 26 January 2026 at the Eccles Theatre in Park City, Utah.

Rocket Sports played a central role in the film’s conception, development and commercial structuring. The project originated with Billie Jean King herself, who entrusted the producer partnership of Rocket Sports and Ridley Scott Associates (RSA) to bring her story to the screen with the scale, ambition and integrity it deserves. The Rocket Sports / RSA partnership developed the film’s concept and worked with BJK to identify and select a world-class team of filmmakers.

Directed by acclaimed filmmakers Liz Garbus and Elizabeth Wolff, the documentary offers an unfiltered portrait of a sporting icon whose influence reaches far beyond the tennis court. The film was produced by Dominic Crossley-Holland, Dan Cogan, and Rocket Sports’ Jay de Andrade. Through rare archive footage and candid interviews, the film captures a defining period in Billie Jean King’s life marked by courage, conviction and a relentless fight for gender and LGBTQ+ equality.

Commissioned by Disney / ESPN, and produced by Story Syndicate and Ridley Scott Associates in association with Rocket Sports, Give Me the Ball! reflects Rocket Sports’ role in assembling world-class creative partners and helping position the film for global distribution and cultural impact.
