The Fastest Man Ever on Two Wheels Joins Rocket Sports

Thursday 3 September: Rocket Sports has announced the signing of Olympic medallist and world-record holder Matthew Richardson, who joins the agency ahead of LA 2028.

One of the most exciting cycling stars of his generation, Richardson has established himself as one of the world’s leading sprint cyclists, combining Olympic and World Championship success.
Richardson enjoyed a breakthrough at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, winning three medals across the sprint, keirin and team sprint events. He followed this with further success at World Championship level, cementing his position among the world’s leading track cyclists.

Following Paris, Richardson switched his international allegiance to Great Britain, his nation of birth. With new colours on his jersey, his next goal was simple: ride a bike faster than anyone else in history.

On 14 August 2025, at the Konya Velodrome in Turkey, Richardson clocked 8.941 seconds for the flying 200 m, becoming the first man to break the nine-second barrier. The following day, he went even faster, setting a new world record of 8.857 seconds.

With three Olympic medals, multiple World Championship titles and a world record to his name, Richardson now has his sights firmly set on LA 2028. Having already stood on the podium three times in Paris, his ambition is clear: to take the top step.

As he enters the next chapter of his career, Richardson will work with Rocket Sports to develop his commercial partnerships, brand profile and opportunities both on and off the track.
